Sipi Heritage Lodge formerly known as Sipi River Lodge is found in Kapchorwa district on the foothills of Mount Elgon in Eastern Uganda. The lodge is situated on 17 acres of private land, which incorporates the 80m Kapsururu Falls, with a number of caves and quiet enclosures around, to explore.

Sipi Heritage Lodge is run with just a small number of visitors at any single time, which makes it a ‘home far from home’ experience. We pride ourselves on the personal services we offer to each of our guests.

    Amenities at Sipi Heritage Lodge.

Sipi Heritage Lodge is a cozy place constructed from wood and stone from the local environment, with an inviting living room, fireplace, and couches to enjoy your cup of hot chocolate coffee on one of those chilly nights.

The lodge has luxury family cottages and more basic bandas, all with spectacular views of the magnificent Sipi Falls.

Set within the grounds of a unique restored former residence, Sipi River Lodge consists of a main house and seven detached accommodations for our guests, each individually designed with a thoughtful perspective on the backdrop of Kapsururu Falls.

Within this picturesque setting, you will experience intimate fireside dining, a comfortable reading lounge, an airy veranda, and a bar stocked with beers, wines, and a fine selection of single-malt whisky.

We love coffee. Being located in one of the world’s finest coffee-growing areas, our organic Arabica coffee is sourced directly from local farmers and hand-roasted on an open fire by our full-time coffee artisans. While each batch is unique you can expect a thick body, rustic caramel sweetness, and fruited notes with lower acidity than most African coffees.

If you’re a coffee lover planning to visit Sipi Falls you can explore our coffee plantation, spend a day with our coffee artisans learning their craft, and join a coffee tour where you can trace the story of coffee, from beans to the cup, while supporting the local community.

Join us for afternoon tea and cake after a beautiful waterfall hike and refuel with our hearty home-style meals that celebrate the local produce.

Sipi River Lodge offers a variety of accommodations and activities, all located within walking distance of the lodge, including coffee tours, hiking, rock climbing, abseiling, and trout fishing. We also organize Mount Elgon hiking expeditions.

Activities Around the Sipi Heritage Lodge.

Some of the activities that can be done while at the lodge include; Mount Elgon Expeditions and day hikes, climbing/abseiling, mountain biking, trekking, archery and bird watching.

Sipi Falls is home to a series of three spectacular waterfalls, some of the best Arabica coffee in the world, world-class mountain biking, and beautiful sunsets! Sipi Falls sits just outside Mount Elgon National Park which is the home of an incredible number of bird species as well as being the largest volcanic base in the world.

Guided Nature walks from this place are beautiful. The one to the middle and upper falls is better than the more famous walk to the lower (greatest) falls. On the upper walk, it’s really worth continuing up over the top falls and sweeping back to the village in a round circuit; a great walk.

Sipi Falls and Mount Elgon National Park boast a hiker’s paradise, an incredible number of bird species, a community rich in culture, and the home of world-class running talent. Whether you like a relaxed pace or an active adventure, we can help you to get the most from your visit.

In Uganda, mountain climbers can also enjoy the Rwenzori mountains hiking safari in western Uganda to its Margherita peak at 5,109m above sea level.
